Ayurvedic Treatment for Chronic Cough & Cold
Chronic cough and cold (Pratishyaya & Kasa) are Kapha-Vata disorders in Ayurveda. Treatment focuses on clearing accumulated Kapha from the respiratory channels, expelling Ama, and restoring the downward flow of Prana Vayu — providing deep, lasting relief.
Book ConsultationOur Approach: At Herbal Hills Ayurvedic Wellness Center, our doctors begin every consultation with Nadi Parikshan (pulse diagnosis). This identifies the dominant dosha imbalance, the state of the respiratory channels (Pranavaha Srotas), and the extent of Ama — ensuring a personalised treatment plan for your respiratory health.
Understanding Chronic Cough & Cold in Ayurveda
In Ayurveda, chronic cough is referred to as Kasa and chronic cold as Pratishyaya. Both conditions arise when aggravated Kapha and Vata obstruct the Pranavaha Srotas (respiratory channels), leading to persistent mucus accumulation, nasal congestion, and irritation of the throat and airways.
Unlike symptom-suppressing approaches, Ayurvedic treatment works to liquefy and expel accumulated Kapha, pacify aggravated Vata, kindle Agni (digestive fire) to prevent Ama formation, and strengthen Ojas (immunity) — addressing the root cause of recurring cough and cold.
